Virginia Clair Duback of Hebron, NE the daughter of Truman and Elizabeth (VonBergen) Phillips was born November 17, 1925 in Albion, NE. She departed this life Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home in Hebron, NE at the age of 96 years.

Virginia grew up in Albion, NE attending school and graduating from Albion High School with the class of 1943. She continued her education by attending The University of Nebraska in Omaha receiving her LPN Degree.

She married Harvey L. Townsend March 17, 1945 and this union was blessed with the birth of two children. While in college she worked for Goodyear.

She started her nursing career working for Lincoln General Hospital, then York Hospital, Good Samaritan Care Center in Portland, OR, and Ocean Park, OR before retiring in Ocean Park, WA and marrying Lester Duback from Ocean Park before moving to Hebron, NE.

Virginia enjoyed reading, sewing, claming, painting in oil, knitting, and most of all spending time with her family. She was very involved in the Lions Club in Ocean Park, WA, she was actually the only woman in the club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Von Phillips, daughter Carol Hartley and husband Jim.

She is survived by her son Richard Townsend and wife Mary of Omaha, NE, sister-in-law Shiela VonBergen of Anchorage, Alaska, grandchildren; Tim Hartley and wife Wendy of Hebron, NE, Brian Hartley and wife Yvonne of Lincoln, NE, David Hartley of Hebron, NE, Eric Townsend and wife Lura of St. Paul, NE, and Michelle Dangol and husband Dependra of Seattle, WA, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Following Virginia’s, wishes she was cremated and no visitation. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at The United Methodist Church in Hebron, NE at 11AM. Officiant will be Pastor Brian Faust, pianist Calvin Phillips. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Memorials may be mailed to Richard Townsend PO Box 11024 Omaha, NE 68111 to be donated to the Lions Club. Inurnment will be in the Albion Cemetery Albion, NE. Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron, NE is in charge of arrangements.
