Ruth Maxine Evers, daughter of Paul and Gladys (Havelka) Doehring, was born July 18, 1929 in

Hebron, NE. She departed this life Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, NE at the age of 92 years.

Ruth spent her entire life in the Hubbell and Hebron area. She attended grade school in Hubbell

and graduated from Hebron High School. She then pursued a Teaching Certificate from Peru State

College at the age of 16. She taught all grades K-8 in a small country school near Hubbell, NE.

On June 20, 1948 she married Walter Evers of Hubbell, NE where they lived and farmed. To this

union were two children, Vaughn and Coleen. After a tragic farm accident, killing Vaughn, the

family moved to Hebron in 1962. After Walter’s passing in 1969, Ruth remained independent and

active for many years.

Ruth was always a hard worker assisting on the farm. She then worked at Christenson’s Rexall

Drug Store and the Thayer County Bank until her retirement in 1992.

Ruth spent her retirement time doing volunteer work for Grace Lutheran Church, Meals on Wheels,

and Things and Stuff store for the Thayer County Hospital Guild.

Ruth was talented doing work with her hands including sewing, cross-stitching, cooking, and ceramics.

She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church Circle and several bridge groups.

Ruth’s greatest pleasure was being involved in her grandchildren’s lives, Amy and Brett. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with three very special great-grandchildren, Claire, Max and Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, son Vaughn, brothers LaVonne, Merlyn,

Arlo Wayne and Norman Doehring and sister Mabel Piepho.

She is survived by her daughter Coleen(Doug) Bandemer of Lee’s Summit, MO; granddaughter Amy(Mike) Sullivan of Olathe, K; grandson Brett(Nicole)Bandemer; sister Shirley Richardson

(Bob) of Brighton, CO; brother Lemoine(Connie)Doehring of Seward, NE; and sister-in-law Leora

Doehring of Salina, KS with many nieces, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, July 22, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE at 10:00 AM. Officiant Pastor Keith Brozek. Organist Brenda Striggow, memorials in care of Grace Lutheran Church and 1 Terrace Circle Assisted Living in Hebron, NE. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Book signing will be Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron, NE 2-6 PM. Inurnment will be at Hebron City Cemetery in Hebron. Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron is in charge of arrangements.
