Richard Lee Hoins of Hebron, NE the son of Eldon and Margaret (Bailey) Hoins was born May 19, 1945 in Guide Rock, NE. He departed this life Monday, February 27, 2023 at his home in Hebron, NE at the age of 77 years.

 

Rich grew up in Guide Rock, NE attending school and graduating from Guide Rock High School with the class of 1963. He furthered his education attending Kearney State College receiving his Bachelors Degree in Education.

 

He married Sandra Foster August 4, 1968 in Nebraska City, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of three daughters.

 

The couple moved to Hebron for the 1977-1978 school year. Rich was interested in sports and was the head coach for basketball, assistant for football and track. He started his career in Hebron High School teaching math and retired in 2003 as High School Principal.

 

Rich enlisted in the United States Navy July 1, 1971 and was honorably discharged May 26, 1974.

 

After returning from the service, he went back to Kearney receiving his Masters Degree in Mathematics. Later he returned to school again and received a Masters Degree in Administration.

 

Rich was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hebron, American Legion, VFW, and Hebron Volunteer Fire Department as an EMT.

 

Spending time with his family brought much joy to Rich especially the grandchildren, attending their many activities.

 

He is preceded in death by his daughter Hillary, brother Darrell Hoins and wife Linda, sister Gwen Sholtz and husband Dean, and brother-in-law Jim Foster.

 

He is survived by his wife Sandy Hoins of Hebron, NE, two daughters Heather Lemon and husband Steve of Papillion, NE and Heidi Case and husband Chad of Lincoln, NE, brother Les Hoins and wife Neita of Beatrice, NE, sisters Elda Patton (Richard) of Hastings, NE and Jody Buescher and husband Lee of Glenvil, NE, grandchildren; Caleb, Peyton, and Addison Lemon, Cedric, Harper and Haidyn Case, nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Funeral services will be Monday, March 6, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Hebron, NE at 10:30 AM. Officiant will be Pastor Brian Faust, organist Diane Smith, congregational hymn; “On Eagles Wings”, recorded selections, “How Do I Say Goodbye” by Dean Lewis, “Walk The Line” by Johnny Cash, and visitation will be Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron, NE 2-6 PM, casket bearers; Caleb Lemon, Peyton Lemon, Addison Lemon, Cedric Case, Harper Case, Haidyn Case, Chad Case, Steve Lemon, and Doug Hoins, memorials in care of the family.
