Ramona Marie Holtzen of Davenport, NE the daughter of Hubert and Donna (Fangmeyer) Hoins was born April 10, 1958 in Hebron, NE. She departed this life Thursday, May 11, 2023 at her home.
Ramona was baptized at St Paul’s Lutheran Church of Stoddard, NE. She was confirmed at Western Douglas Church of St John’s Lutheran, Plainfield, IA, and graduated Plainfield High School with the class of 1976.
Ramona married Dale Holtzen November 6, 1981 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Friedensau and this union was blessed with the birth of two daughters.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedensau, NE where she was an active member; including church secretary and helping with Sunday School and Youth Group. She also enjoyed being involved with her daughters’ activities such as 4-H, softball and school. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, playing cards and spending time with family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially playing games and cards with them. Although she had health limitations throughout her life, she would participate as much as her health would allow.
Ramona is survived by her husband Dale, daughters; Jennifer Foster (Tyler) of Alliance, NE, and Jessica Shaw (Daniel) of Farmingdale, ME, brothers; Kevin Hoins (Barbie) of Trumbull, NE, Gerald Hoins of Hastings, NE, Russell Hoins (Denise) of Hawkeye, IA, and Gregg Hoins (Kris) of Waterville, IA, and sister Joleen Sorenson (Dave) of La Crosse, WI. Brother in law, Rodney Holtzen of Davenport, NE and sister in law Barb Bedke (Jeff) of Lincoln, NE. Grandchildren; Ayla, Eden, Callin and Mara Foster and Emily and Jacob Shaw, nieces, nephews and friends. Ramona was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedensau, NE at 10:30 AM. Officiant will be Pastor Jose Flores, organist Lois Pohlmann, congregational hymns; “How Great Thou Art”, “Speak O Lord Your Servant Listens”, and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives”, casket bearers; Ethan Hoins, Mike Holtzen, Sabre Dunlop, Richard Hoins, Nick Hoins, and Sam Hoins, visitation will be Monday, May 15, 2023 at Kroll Funeral Home in Deshler, NE from 2-6 PM with family greeting friends 5-6 PM.
