Norman Deane (Jack) Mumford of Hebron, NE the son of Chrisley and Lois (Holsteen) Mumford was born September 8, 1938 in Hastings, NE. He departed this life Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Liberty House in Fairmont, NE at the age of 84 years.

 

Jack grew up in Nelson, NE, attended Nelson High School and graduated from Hastings Community College as a machinist.

 

Jack enlisted in the United States Navy September 9, 1955, until his honorable discharge January 17, 1960.

 

Jack married Pauline Bartman on November 22, 1957 this union was blessed with the birth of one son Scot.

 

Jack married Carol Free on December 1, 1965. This union was blessed with the birth of two children Kimberly and Gunner.

 

Jack worked for National Crane in Waverly, NE, but spent most of his working career at Reinke Manufacturing in Deshler. After retirement, he continued working for the Hebron Car Wash and Shell Station.

 

Jack liked attending his kids, and grandchildren sporting events, you could always see him on the sidelines at the wrestling, track and football games. Most of all Jack loved spending time with his family he was always telling jokes and making them laugh. He and Carol liked going to the casinos having a good time not always a winner, scratch off tickets, bingo, and watching westerns on TV .

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Carol, sisters-in-law Mary Mumford, Marilyn Free, brother-in-law Dan Free, and nephew Christopher Mumford.

 

He is survived by sons Scot Mumford and wife Dina of Keshena, WI, and Gunner Mumford and wife Jenni of Hebron, NE, daughter Kimberly Kirchhoff and husband Andrew of Hebron, NE, brothers Bill Mumford of Chester, NE, and Max Mumford and wife Ramona of Omaha, NE, one sister Dina Siebels of Belvidere, NE, grandchildren; Traygan and wife Sarah of Manhattan, KS, Seth Mumford of Lincoln, NE, Brooklynne Mumford of Hebron, NE, Gunner Mumford of Hebron, NE, Alyssa Wittig and husband Dylan and Katie Mumford all of Keshena, WI, great-grandchildren; Evelyn Mumford, Orion Wittig and Saige Wittig, nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE at 10:30 AM. Officiant will be Pastor Keith Brozek, organist Brenda Striggow, congregational hymns

“O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”, “Amazing Grace” and “Eternal Father, Strong To Save”, casket bearers; Traygan Mumford, Seth Mumford, Gunner Mumford, Michael Siebels, Thane Kirchhoff, and Brooklyn Mumford, visitation will be Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron, NE 2-6 PM. Condolences may be left at www.kroll.com. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hebron, NE with military honors by Thayer County Legion Posts. Memorials in care of the family. Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron, NE is in charge of arrangements.
