Mildred Bertha (Schardt) Holtzen

MIldred B. Holtzen of Deshler, NE the daughter of Henry and Emilie (Albrecht) Schardt was born February 2, 1933 near Carleton, NE. She was called to her heavenly home on Friday, August 6, 2021 at home at the age of 88 years.

She was baptized February 12, 1933 and confirmed May 18, 1947 both at Trinity Lutheran Church Friedensau.

Mildred grew up on the family farm near Carleton. She attended grade school at Friedensau and graduated from Deshler High School.

Mildred married Elmer Holtzen on April 5, 1953 at Trinity Lutheran Church Friedensau, NE in a double ring ceremony with her sister Florence and husband Delmar Eickmann. Mildred and Elmer enjoyed 67 years together. This marriage was blessed with three children.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedensau, NE where she was a member of the Ladies Aid, Priscillas, LWML and the church choir.

During her lifetime she also worked at Reinke's Manufacturing, Deshler Market and Parkview Haven. In her spare time she enjoyed playing many different card games, quilting, handiwork, dancing, traveling, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Edgar and wife Vera, Paul and wife Grace, Leonard and wife Alice, sisters, Irma Ohlrich and husband Lawrence, Lorine Rupprecht and husband Reuben, Emily Siebenneicher and husband Wayne, Valora Wurtz and husband Herman, brothers-in-laws: Lawrence Ritterling, Delmar Eickmann, Norman Holtzen, Harold Holtzen and wife Lenora, sister-in-law Elda Heitmann and husband Orvil and daughter-in-law Margie Holtzen.

She is survived by sisters Florence Eickmann and Frances Ritterling, sons: Rod Holtzen, Dale Holtzen and wife Ramona, daughter Barb Bedke and husband Jeff, 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church Friedensau, at 10:30 am. Visitation will be Monday, August 9, 2021 from 3-6pm at Kroll Funeral Home in Deshler, NE. Officiant will be Pastor Jose Flores, organist Lois Pohlmann. Pall bearers are Mike Holtzen, Tyler Foster, Dan Shaw, Ray Wright, Sabre Dunlap and Brandon Dunlap.
