Mary Louise (Nacke) Rozmajzl was born in Hebron, Nebraska on December 31, 1919, the daughter and oldest child of Albert J. Nacke and Frederica (Haug) Nacke. She departed this life at her residence on Friday September 24, 2021. She was baptized by Fr. Joseph Ress, Sacred Heart Church, Hebron on January 1, 1920. Her godparents were Mr. George Vonderhaar and Mrs. C.L. Nacke. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband Francis Rozmajzl, her brother F.O. Charles C. Nacke and her sisters Geraldine Hess, and Annabelle Nacke.

 

Growing up in Hebron, Mary was educated, first at Sacred Heart Grade school, taught by the School Sisters of Notre Dame from St. Louis, Missouri. After graduation from Hebron High School, she attended Hebron Junior College and Academy, and graduated from the Chillicothe Business School in Missouri in 1940.

 

During the war years, 1941-1943 she worked as a secretary in Chicago and then at the Colorado Air Base in Colorado Springs, 1943 – 1946. She worked in Omaha moving there during the years 1946 – 1950. It was in Omaha that she met and married Francis Rozmajzl on August 26, 1950. The wedding was held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church and the celebrant was Mary’s uncle, Fr. Clement J. Nacke.

 

She and Francis lived in Malvern, Iowa from 1951- 1957 where they ran a chicken farm. Mary later worked at the bank in Malvern. Her husband, Francis, died on February 28, 1965.

 

Mary moved back to Hebron in 1979. Her uncle, Fr. Clement Nacke, came to live with her there.

 

Over the years Mary was actively involved in serving on Boards and committees both social and civic. These include the following: St. Anne’s Altar Society of Sacred Heart Church, Hebron; The Girl Scouts in Malvern, Iowa; The Thayer County Hospital Foundation Board, the Nebraska Senior Health Association, The Rural Nebraska Hospital Association Board, the Thayer County hospital auxiliary store, “Things and Stuff”, Bible Club, the Belvidere Women’s Club; and a member of PEO, Chapter IQ.

 

She is survived by her brother Father Xavier Nacke of Conception, MO, sisters; Betty Mahoney and husband Tim of Huston, TX and Sr. Margaret Nacke of Hebron, NE, nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Mass of the Christian burial will be Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron, NE at 10 AM. Officiants will be Father Steve Major, Rev Abbott Benedict Neenan and her brother Father Xavier Nacke, organist Julie Kriesel, cantor Carlece Kenner, congregational hymns, acolyte Roger Retzlaff, lector Sr. Margaret Nacke, following Mary’s wishes her body was donated as a anatomical gift to Creighton University, no visitation.
