Margaret Loretta(Brenn/Boyce)Stutz, the daughter of Francis Anthoy and Elvira Anna(Kriley)Brenn was born August 28, 1920 on a farm northeast of Fairbury, NE. She departed this life on November 26, 2021 at the age of 101.

Loretta started school at Bower, north of Fairbury. The family then moved to a farm east of Alexandria and she attended Jefferson County School #102. She then attended the 7th and 8th grades in Alexandria. Her father ran a butcher shop there. After his death, the family moved to a farm southeast of Hebron where she went to Hebron High School one year before moving back to Alexandria where she graduated from Alexandria High School with the class of 1938.

Loretta took piano lessons as a youngster(and made her children do so as well). Her favorite program growing up was Amos and Andy. She taught school in District 38 near Belvidere for 3 years and a year at District 52 near Alexandria, NE. Upon moving to the Lexington Assisted Living Facility in Lincoln, she managed their general store for a time, loved playing pitch and bingo. She also became a devoted Kansas City Royals fan in recent years. The Lexington facility confirmed that she was their longest resident and their oldest resident they’ve ever had.

She married Robert Stutz on October 27, 1970 and his four children came along with the marriage which she claimed as her own.

Because of Bob’s health, the couple moved to California for a few months to be close to Bob’s 3 sons. Upon moving back, Loretta worked at Ace Hardware in Hebron until it closed in 1992, then Ben Franklin and also Smitty’s bakery. Upon Bob’s death on May 17, 1997, she continued to enjoy quilting, giving 1 to nearly every child. She was in the Double X Club in Hubbell and Altar Society at Sacred Heart Church in Hebron. She was an active member in the Hubbell Ladies V.F.W. auxillary and the Thayer County Gold Star Post 5328 Ladies V.F.W. Auxillary in Hebron serving as President for 1 year.
