Lois Ann (Werner) Pohlmann of Deshler, NE the daughter of Arnold and Lorna (Dierker) Werner was born on March 17, 1944 in Gooding, Idaho. She departed this life peacefully at her home on Monday, March 18, 2024 at the age of 80 years surrounded by the love of her family.

She was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jerome, Idaho on April 2, 1944 and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Twin Falls, Idaho on May 25, 1958. Her confirmation verse was 1 John 1:7.

Lois grew up on a farm near Jerome, Idaho. She attended Memorial Lutheran School and graduated from Jerome High School in 1962. After high school, she attended Concordia Junior College in Portland, Oregon. She continued her education at Concordia Teachers College (now known as Concordia University Chicago) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Lutheran education.

Lois married Orville Herbert Pohlmann on August 1, 1969 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Twin Falls, ID. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons, David and Tim.

She began her career as a 4th and 5th grade teacher at Trinity Lutheran School in Lincoln, NE. Following her marriage, Lois taught kindergarten in Ruskin and at Deshler Lutheran School. Later in life, she worked for the Hebron Journal Star and Gary Peters Agency, Inc. The majority of her time was spent as a farm wife, helping her husband and raising her two sons on the family farm southwest of Deshler.

Lois was actively involved in the church. Most notably, she was the organist at Trinity Lutheran Church Friedensau for nearly 30 years. As a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, she was active in leadership for Lutheran Women’s Missionary League attending numerous conventions and retreats. She also devoted time to quilt tying, bible study, helping with Sunday School, and serving as the church librarian. Lois will forever be remembered for her strong faith that inspired so many people around her.

She enjoyed music, reading, sewing, baking, gardening, but most of all spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and was always present to support her family.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, husband Orville Pohlmann, son Tim Pohlmann.

She is survived by her son David Pohlmann, sister Sharon Hickman, sister Ruth Probasco and husband Lloyd, brother Lloyd Werner and wife Cathi, three grandchildren: Hanna, Clay, and Jack Pohlmann, sister-in-law Gladys Hobelmann, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 11:00 am, March 23, 2024, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Deshler with the Rev. Brian D. Francik officiating. Interment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Deshler.

Visitation will be Friday, March 22, 2024, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Kroll Funeral Home in Deshler.
