Lloyd Virgil Farnstrom of Hebron, NE the son of Paul and Anna (Hendrickson) Farnstrom was born March 1, 1922 in Gothenburg, NE. He departed this life Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home in Hebron, NE.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Gothenburg, NE.

He attended school and graduated from Gothenburg High School.

He entered the United States Army October 6, 1942 until November 19, 1945 and earned WWII Victory Medal, three Bronze Service Stars and Good Conduct Medal. He served at Omaha Beach, Battle of the Bulge and battles at Metz, France.

He was a member of the Hebron Lions, American Legion and Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron and served on many committees.

Lloyd married Juleen Hicken September 7, 1947 at the Lutheran Church north of Gothenburg, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of four children.

Lloyd enjoyed outdoor activities, hunting, golfing, fishing and carving diamond willow walking canes. He spent a lot of time pitching baseball to his grandsons and attending school events. He treasured his time with his friends, especially his friend Chuck who read to him almost everyday when his eyesight was failing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Juleen, brothers Roy and Charles, sisters-in-law Pat and Marge Fanrstrom, and nephew Bob Farnstrom.

He is survived by one son David and wife Janelle of Hebron, three daughters; Kathy Reinke and husband Les, Ronda Frye and husband Chris all of Hebron, Susan Sell and husband Dave of Humphrey, NE, grandchildren; Nicki McGuire and husband Jeff of Florissnt, MO, Cory Reinke and wife Jamie of Cortland, NE, Jim Hergott and wife Tori of Hebron, NE, Chris Hergott and wife Staci of Hebron, NE, Colby Hergott and wife Robbin of Bruning, NE, Leslie Schreiner of Omaha, NE, Brandon McKenzie of Lincoln, NE, Ali Torres and German of Columbus, NE, Payton Sell and Rebecca of Humphrey, NE, Derek Farnstrom and wife Christy of Hebron, NE, Lathan McLaughlin and wife Stacey of Hebron, NE, Brandon McLaughlin and wife Lacey of Central City, NE, and Hayden Farnstrom and Shelby of Hebron, NE, Austin Farnstrom and wife Courtney of Byron, NE, great-grandchildren; Emma and Aden McGuire, Takaylynn and Tegon Hergott, Brooklyn, Keith, Cassie and Brighton Hergott, Alexis Hergott, Pe'li McKenzie, Riley, Abbie, Josie and Max Schreiner, Riley Farnstrom, Brenner, Carson and Owen McLaughlin, Cash and Hadley McLaughlin, Cooper Farnstrom, and Annaleigh Reinke, Addilynn Reinke, Maren McLaughlin, Delaney and Elliott Farnstrom, Gabriel, Nya and Freja Torres, Jaxon and Kolson Sell, and Kalli Farnstrom, one brother Dale Farnstrom and friend Nancy, sister Judy Grimes and husband Gary, sister-in-law Lavawn Farnstrom, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE at 11 AM. Officiant will be Pastor Keith Brozek, organist Brenda Striggow, congregational hymns, “How Great Thou Art”, “Day by Day” and “Onward Christian Soldiers”, casket bearers are the grandsons, burial will be Fort McPherson National Cemetery Maxwell, NE Friday March 25, 2022 at 11 AM. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 2-6 PM at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Memorial in care of the family.
