Leroy Wulf Obituary

Obit Leroy Henry Wulf-93 of Hebron, NE

Kroll Funeral Home Hebron, NE 402-768-6165

Leroy Henry Wulf, son of the late Albert Frederick Wulf and his wife Betty Ann Gebers Wulf, was born on September 26, 1927, in Hebron, Nebraska.  He was baptized in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church outside of Deshler, Nebraska and confirmed there on July 28, 1940.  He became a member of Peace Lutheran Church until he moved to Hebron and joined Grace Lutheran Church.

Leroy rode a horse to grade school northwest of Deshler and to Deshler High School. He graduated in 1944 when he was sixteen years old.  After graduating he worked on the farm with his parents and also picked corn with his parents for other local farmers.  He was drafted into the army when he turned eighteen.  He was in the army from January of 1946 to January of 1947.

After serving in the military, Leroy resumed farming with his father Albert.  He would continue working as a farmer or in other types of agriculture until he was over eighty years old  Leroy also worked part time building outside the Deshler Broom Factory, driving a Pepsi truck, and relocating trees from Central City to Alexandria and other lakes.

On November 13, 1949, Leroy married Phyllis Dean Poppe.  They had four daughters and one son. They lived on a farm outside of Deshler until 1980 when they moved to Hebron.

Tuesday morning, November 24, Leroy died peacefully at home with his wife and children.  He was preceded in death by one infant daughter,  his parents, Albert and Betty Wulf, and  his sisters and their spouses: Marjorie Sloan and her husband Swede, and Ruth Seibolt and her husband Leonard.

Survivors are his wife Phyllis; one son Larry Wulf and Carol of Geneva; three daughters, Linda Brown of Oaks, OK, Shirley and husband Rick Lindsay of Fresno, CA, and Vickie and husband Chuck Dickinson of Conroe, TX; and six grandchildren: Cassie Jezierski and husband Ryan of the Woodlands, TX, Carlie Treinen and husband Nick of Geneva,  Darin Dickinson of Appleton, WI, Rustin Brown and wife Amee of Oaks, OK, Rikki Greenberg and husband Joey of Fresno, CA, and Samantha Lindsay of Fresno, CA.  He also leaves behind six great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Leroy loved to tell stories, read magazines, newspapers, and novels, watch old westerns and sports on television, play almost any kind of cards, and, in his younger days, shoot pool.  A few days before he died, Leroy played one last game of racetrack rummy from his hospital bed, and, naturally, he won.  He will be remembered and missed by many.
