Lela’s Life in Lyrics
Lela Emeline Allen Morrison was born July 9th, 1922, the sixth of seven children to William and Emma Mae (Arp) Allen in Blue Ridge, Georgia. She passed peacefully from this world and entered paradise July 16, 2022 in Windsor, Colorado.
She grew up in Blue Ridge, Georgia attending school and graduating from Blue Ridge High School in 1939.
Lela attended nursing school at Baroness Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. After graduating, she joined the U.S. Army and attended basic training in Brownwood, Texas, where she met Walter F Morrison, the love of her life. Leila served her country in the 118th Evacuation Hospital, European Theater of War, from 1944 - 1945.
Lela and Walt were married August 17th, 1945 in Gary, Indiana. They eventually settled in Denison, Iowa where they lived for over 50 years and raised three children: (Wally) Walter Fredrick Morrison III and spouse, Anne Keefe of Windsor, CO; Marilyn Morrison Willits of Union, IA; and Lisa Morrison November and spouse, Lee Ann Bryce Colorado Springs, CO.
She is survived by all three children; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Mark and David Willits, Walter Fredrick (Ricky) and Daniel (Danny) Morrison, Hannah November and Scott Schmidt and numerous great grand children.
After 100 years and seven days of this life, funeral services will be held Friday, July 22, 2022 at Kroll Funeral Home Chapel in Hebron, NE at 3PM. Officiant will be Pastor Kim Dunker. Pianist Deb Craig congregation hymns “In The Garden” and “Hymn Of Promise”, special music by the great-grandchildren “He Has The Whole World In His Hands” . No Visitation, condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Lela will be laid to rest next to her beloved, Walt, in the Belvidere Cemetery with military honors by Thayer County American Legion Posts.
