LeRoy was born November 22, 1940 to John and Elizabeth (Biernbaum) Vetch in Roscoe, South Dakota.  He was the youngest of 11 children.  He departed this life Tuesday, December 4th, 2018 at Gardenside Long-Term Care in Fairbury, Nebraska at the age of 78.

LeRoy met Donna Waldmeier while working on a custom combining crew in Belvidere and they later married on June 8, 1963 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning, NE. 

LeRoy operated his own gas station, mechanics garage, and welding service in Alexandria, where he was a successful and respected businessman for over 45 years.  He was also a real entrepreneur, operating a towing & cesspool services for a wide area, and was always there to lend a hand to those in need.  On the side he enjoyed his scrap metal business and his real passion was raising cattle.  In later years he  built a new home for his family in Alexandria to fulfill the dreams of his wife and himself.

After moving to Alexandria, LeRoy became a volunteer and leader in the community throughout the years he lived there.  When the streets needed paving, or a community event took place, he was there to assist.  He served on the Alexandria fire department for many years and also helped with the upkeep and records of both the Alexandria cemeteries.

LeRoy retired in 2007 and moved to Fairbury where he began to care for Donna until her passing in 2014.  He had promised to care for her as long as he could, rather than enter her in a care facility.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 51 years, Donna, infant twin sons, Curtis and Chad , sisters Viola, Iola, Eva, Anna Mae; Brothers Laurence, Paul, Johnnie.

Grateful for having had LeRoy in their lives are special friend Sharron Bleich of Fairbury, NE; sisters Bernice, Walburga, and Gladys of South Dakota.  Immediate family survivors are daughter Charlotte and husband Kevin Endorf of Hadar, NE, grandchildren Sarah & Cory Doty and great grandchild Gunnar Doty all of Plainview, NE, and Spencer and Brittany Endorf, all of O’Neil, NE; daughter Cyndi and Jesse Bohlmeyer of Reynolds, grandchildren Kelsey Brungardt of Beatrice and Jessa Siebe Tanner of Fairbury, Tina Bohlmeyer of Fairbury, David and Tosha Bohlmeyer of Concordia, KS, Michael and Melissa Bohlmeyer of Lincoln and great grandchildren Paxton and Kinsley Brungardt and Sophia Leal, Harper and Charlie Sell, Chandler and Remington Bohlmeyer, son Chris and Kathy Vetch and grandchildren Maya and John all of Oxford, MI; son Cliff and Sherry Vetch and grandchildren Allison Huffman, Madison Justin Vetch, Zachary Swartz of Fairbury, NE, nieces, nephews and friends.

Following LeRoy's wishes he wanted his body to be an anatomical gift to the University Of Nebraska Medical Center, for further study of lung cancer. 

Rosary and memorial services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fairbury, NE at 10:30.  Officiant will be Father John Birkel, lector Robert Bachle, organist Lorrie Hofstetter, Congregational hymns “Amazing Grace” and “On Eagles Wings”, acolyte Bob VanWesten.
