Larry Grant Mitchell of Hebron, NE the son of Wiley and Adeline (Runge) Mitchell was born December 24, 1937 in Hebron, NE. He departed this life Friday, September 9, 2022 at Blue Valley Lutheran Home in Hebron, NE at the age of 84 years.

He was baptized into the Christian faith and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in 1952. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE.

Larry grew up in Hebron attending school and graduating from Hebron High School with the class of 1956. He continued his education attending college.

He entered the United States Marine’s and was honorably discharged.

Larry worked numerous jobs, roofing, D&M tree service, drove bread truck for Wonder Bread, deputy sheriff, but spent over 39 years working for Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Company where he received a plaque for CAPP sales person in the nation.

Larry liked being out in God’s great creation, fishing especially on the Little Blue River, hunting deer, having many out of state hunters stay at his home being their guide and shooting the pheasants they missed, and playing tennis. Most of all he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons Allan Mitchell and Greg Mitchell, and brother Bruce Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife Linda Mitchell of Hebron, NE, son Jeffrey Mitchell of AZ, daughter Christy Nikkel and husband Jerod of Sioux City, IA, step-daughter Sherri Sehr of Omaha, NE, sister Sandra Hausler of Columbus, NE, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE at 10:30 AM. Officiant will be Pastor Keith Brozek, organist Brenda Striggow, congregational hymns “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art”. Visitation Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 2pm to 6pm at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Memorials in care of the family. Casket bearers Jerod Nikkel, Samuel Johnson, Zeb Zimmerman, Caleb Mitchell, Jim Wassom and John Haug, honorary casket bearers; Tyler Mitchell, Randy Durflinger, John Walters, Vern Wassom, Marlin Smith, Ken Naysmith, Lyle Burd, John Boatman and Merle Hartley. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hebron, NE with military honors by Thayer County American Legion Posts. Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron, NE is in charge of arrangements.
