John “Jack” Raymond Segelken the son of John and Alma(Koerwitz)Segelken was born April 17, 1940
in Gilead, NE. He departed this life on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler, NE at the age of 82 years.
Jack grew up in Thayer County and attended country school, and graduated from Hebron High School with the class of 1958. Jack worked for Clarence Wright in Belvidere, J & S Gravel, Merlin Gaston and then Thayer County Roads Dept. before retiring in 2008.
After graduation he went with friends to California to seek his fortune but decided that didn’t work so returned home.
He married Bonnie Eaton in 1961, this marriage was blessed with the birth of one daughter. Then married Madalon Peter July 30, 1982 in Hebron at home.
Jack enjoyed being out in God’s great creation hunting, fishing, and giving tours on the River Road with the history of Thayer County. He was always looking out for arrowheads, seeking treasures with his metal detector but most of all loved spending time with family.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Madalon of Hebron, NE, daughter Carla Cage of Lincoln, NE, one sister Nancy Lueders and husband Larry of Deshler, NE, one granddaughter Amanda Cage of Omaha, NE,
nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron at 10:30 AM. Cremation no visitation. Officiant Pastor Keith Brozek, organist Brenda Striggow, recorded song “By Your Grace” by Cody Johnson,- congregational hymns “Here I Am Lord”, “Oh Come Emmanuel”, “On Eagles Wings”. Honorary casket bearers are Amanda Cage, Vern Schoof, Tessa Rose Arnett, Brent Lueders, Karina Brandt, Jim Koerwitz, Kory Lueders, and Robin Hernandez. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Memorial in care of the family. Inurnment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hebron, NE. Kroll Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
