John Thomas Levendofsky, the son of Frank and Ellen Hurley-Levendofsky was born on January 27, 1932 in Concordia Kansas. He departed his wonderful and long life at 87 years of age on March 3, 2019.

John was raised on a farm in Belleville, Kansas , attended a small country school and graduated from Belleville High School in 1948. On March 4, 1952 he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in St. Louis, Missouri. John taught communications at the US Air Force from 1952-1956. John had the privilege of flying on the Honor Flight in 2014 to Washington D.C. as a Korean Veteran.

John married the love of his life, Fayrene Frint on August 4, 1952 in Belleville, Illinois. In 1956, they moved to a farmstead on Stoddard road, south of Hebron. They were blessed with 4 amazing daughters, Lisa, Tina, Kim, and Janna.

John found his passion in life beginning his long career of farming in 1956. He milked cows, raised cattle, hogs, chickens and sheep. He loved to buy farmland and real estate. From 1981-2012 he worked for the Dageford Agency as a real estate agent. Even after retiring, he still loved managing farms and buying and selling real estate.

He was an active and passionate member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He served as a life long member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus, where he served as the Grand Knight and District Grand Knight. John belonged to the American Legion Post #180, serving as commander. John had many hobbies, like Golf, playing cards, traveling, and just being curious about people and life. He and his golf friends were known as the “Rat Pack of Hebron Country Club.” His priorities in life were God, family and commitment to his friends. Spending time with his family and seeing them grow and become successful was his greatest joy.

John is preceded in death by his parents; brother Lawrence and wife Gladys, brother Francis and wife Iolene, brother George, brothers-in-law Marvin Michels and Elwin Scofield.

He is survived by is loving wife of 67 years, Fayrene; and daughters, Lisa Levendofsky of Sun City, Florida,Tina and Dr. Scott Olson of Lincoln Nebraska, Kim and Dr. James Raatz of Apollo Beach, Florida, Janna and Dr. Marc Ronert of Palm Beach, Florida. Nine beautiful grandchildren, Dr. David Olson, and wife Dr. Julie, Danielle Olson, Dr. Justin Raatz and wife Kate, Austin Raatz, Preston Raatz, Lyndon Raatz, Katlyn Raatz, twins Milana and Zurich Ronert . Seven amazing Great Grandchildren, Kaiden Raatz, Veada and Parker Raatz ,Hanna and Dutch Raatz, Claire and Luke Olson, sister Mary Michels, sister Ellen Scofield, brother Paul Levendofsky and wife Harriett and sister-in-law Marilyn Levendofsky,

There are so many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that were touched by Johns ZEST for life.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be Friday, March 8, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron, NE at 10AM. Officiant Father Rudy Oborny, acolytes Pat Kenner and Pat O’Hanlon, organist Julie Kriesel, cantor Carlece Kenner, visitation will be Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron 2PM to 7PM. Rosary service will be Thursday 7PM at Kroll Funeral Home Chapel in Hebron. Memorials in care of the family. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Casket bearers will be the grandsons. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by Thayer County American Legion Posts. Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron is in charge of arrangements.
