JoAnn Ruth Fangmeyer of Deshler, NE the daughter of John and Alvina (Gebers) Flathman Jr. was born November 30, 1939 in Chester, NE. She departed this life Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler, NE at the age of 81 years.

She was baptized December 19, 1939 by Pastor Juengel and confirmed April 26, 1953 by Pastor Hilst both at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, NE.

JoAnn grew up in Chester attending school and graduating from Chester High School with the class of 1957.

She married Ervin Fangmeyer July 7, 1957 at St John Lutheran Church in Chester, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of five children.

JoAnn was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, NE singing in the choir and a member of the women club.

She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, crafts, reading, and decorating cakes, most of all spending time with her family especially the grandchildren.

JoAnn was a stay at home mom, taking care of the children, attending their events, cooking, baking and being a good mother and housekeeper. She also helped Ervin in the store where needed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers Raymond and LeRoy Flathman, sister Norma Doering and husband Rolly, daughter-in-law Laurie Fangmeyer, and granddaughter Rachel Fangmeyer.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 6, 2021 at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, NE at 10:30 AM. Officiant Pastor Joe Love, organist Heidi Isernhagen, congregational hymns “Amazing Grace”, “Come Home”, “Angels We Have Heard On High”, special music by Marsha Fangmeyer singing “Soft and Tenderly”, and “Come To Jesus” by great-grandchildren Mckylie and Daphne Schmit. Casket bearers are the grandsons, and the rest of the grandchildren are the honorary casket bearers. Visitation will be Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Kroll Funeral Home in Deshler, NE 2-6 PM with family greeting friends 4-6 PM. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com.
