Jacquelyn Bacon Obituary

Obit Jacquelyn Mae Bacon-89 of Hebron, NE

Kroll Funeral Home Hebron, NE 42-768-6165

Jacquelyn Mae Bacon of Hebron, NE the daughter of Walter and Rose (Herbert) Calvin was born July 27, 1933 in Sweetwater, NE. She departed this life at her home in Hebron with her family by her side January 27, 2023.

Jackie grew up on a farm near Ravenna, NE attending country school and graduating from Ravenna High School. She furthered her education by attending the University of Nebraska and received a bachelor’s degree in education. She taught Home Economics in Ravenna.

She married Robert Bacon February 1, 1958, in a small church in Ravenna, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of three children.

The couple resided in Oakland, NE for a short time before moving to Hebron in 1968. She worked for Hebron Public Schools as a substitute teacher, para-professional in the speech department for many years and drove several bus routes. She touched the lives of many children that attended Hebron Public Schools. After retirement, Jackie volunteered at Things and Stuff, Blue Valley Community Action, and projects for the hospital foundation. She also spent many weekends and devoted countless years to the Hebron County Club serving on the board and as a “volunteer” scorekeeper. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, DW, and P.E.O.

Jackie loved her family and enjoyed taking in all the school activities, spending time with the family and especially the grandchildren. Jackie cherished and found great joy in surrounding herself with family. From hosting Christmas, Thanksgiving, or the annual Easter egg hunts, she was always willing to go above and beyond for those she loved. She enjoyed attending various school activities and you could always count on her to be in the stands no matter the occasion; she truly was the greatest, and most passionate cheerleader. She liked spending time at the golf course and could be found most summer days there with grandkids and 2 dogs in the golf cart teaching them the finer points of the game. She often took credit for creating the professional golfer of the family. Jackie regularly enjoyed trips downtown to find the best bargains and always came home with one, or many, new trinkets to display in her house. You could often find her with a new sewing project, a word search, or a craft project or two. She always knew how to leave you smiling.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Rose Calvin.

She is survived by her husband Bob of Hebron, NE, sons; David Bacon and wife Kara of LaVista, NE, and Richard Bacon and wife Marsha of Cook, NE, one daughter Kim Cottam and husband Kent of Hebron, one sister Nadine Cook and husband Larry of Peoria, AZ, grandchildren; Matthew Bacon of Omaha, NE, Mark and wife Ellie Bacon of Omaha, Samuel Bacon of Omaha, Jordan Cottam of Hebron, Jay Cottam and wife Bailey of Kearney, NE, Jena Cottam of Hebron, Harrison Bacon of Cook, NE and Jamison Bacon of Cook, NE, one great-grandson Brooks Cottam, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
