Henry Drudik Obituary

Obit Henry “Hank” John Drudik

March 9, 1931 - September 18, 2020

Henry of Lincoln formerly of Ruskin, NE was born on March 9, 1931 in Fairfield, Nebraska, and passed away on September 18, 2020 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 89.

Henry was raised on a farm in Deweese, Nebraska. He was the fifth of five children of Anna (Suchy) and Joseph Drudik. He attended Roth Country School. Other than that, in his younger years he spent most of his days on the family farm.

Henry was a simple guy with a simple life. He was very passionate about his faith (a member of the Catholic Church), and his Czech heritage, especially the traditional music and food. He was a people-person, who was always willing to chat with anyone about anything. His contagious smile lit up a room, and you could always count on Henry to have time for you. Henry made a friend everywhere he went.

Henry worked in Concordia, KS, Hastings, NE, Chester, NE, and Deshler, NE in various manual labor jobs. Henry’s longest job was at Reinke in Deshler, where he worked for 13 years as a steel cutter. One of his favorite accomplishments was when he won a steel cutting contest and broke the company’s record for amount of steel cut in an hour, winning him a big award. He retired from Reinke in 1985.

Henry lived in Ruskin, NE during his retirement years. His free time was spent mostly outside where he enjoyed gardening and mowing. His community described him as “generous” and always willing to help. Even in his old age, Henry continued to maintain his strong work ethic.

In 2014, Henry moved to Lincoln to be closer to family. Henry loved to spend time with friends and family, keep up with current events, try new foods, and do word-search puzzles. He is missed by many.

Henry is survived by brother-in-law Milton Sharp; nieces Louise (Bob) Mooren, Julie (Joel) Young; nephew, David (Cathy) Sharp; great nephews Corey Sharp, Parker Vicroy, Evan Vicroy, Jason Young, Jonathan Young, Jacob Young, Justin Young; and great niece, Makayla Brenden.

Henry is proceeded in death by his parents, Anna (Suchy) and Joseph Drudik; and siblings,

Joseph, James, Helen (Sharp) and Louis Drudik.
