Harry Joseph Wiedel, age 80, of Hebron NE, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at the Blue Valley Nursing Home in Hebron. Harry was born April 13, 1940 in Hebron NE. The youngest of 5 children born to John A. Wiedel and Gertrude S. (Schmit) Wiedel.

On August 18, 1962 Harry married the love of his life Linda Lou Witfoth at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron and were married 58 years. To them were born 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren who he enjoyed and loved dearly.

Harry attended Sacred Heart Catholic School until 8th grade and graduated from Hebron High School in 1958. In addition to being a lifelong farmer he was employed at the Mid-America Feed Yard, later worked for the County and the grain elevator in Hebron. Harry was involved in the Hebron Community as a 4-H leader and devoted member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He served as an altar boy, sang in the choir, was an Acolyte, lector, and on the church board. He enjoyed decorating the church at Christmas and helping with fish fries during the Lenten season. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and held several offices including Grand Knight and District Deputy. He joined the 4th Degree Knights where he was a Faithful Navigator and Honor Guard. Harry was very involved in the Thayer County Livestock Feeders and served as President, helped build the grill which he stored and rented out for many years and participated in many Feeders trips.

Harry liked to build and fix things as well as tend his ever flourishing garden. He designed a gazebo which we are very proud of and enjoyed trips to Branson with friends and family. Hunting and fishing with friends and family kept him busy as well as telling stories to his children and grandchildren and great grandchildren about his big fish.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, John A. Wiedel and Gertrude S. (Schmit) Wiedel, Brother: Robert Wiedel, Sisters: Phyllis Woods and husband Louis Woods, Geraldine Hergott and husband Don Hergott. Nephews: Edward Koci, Charles Koci and Gary Hergott. Harry was an honest and hard-working man, whose love of family and God never wavered. He enjoyed square dancing, playing cards and visiting friends and family. He loved a good western movie, old country music, but most of all-desserts!! His quirky smile, goofy laugh and good ole boy charm will be missed by many.
