Eva Darlene Elliott Zlab, born December 24, 1940, died January 4, 2020.
Survived by her brother, Wayne Elliott, her sister Bernice Payne, her brother Larry Elliott, three children – Elizabeth Childers, Kenton Zlab, and Joseph Zlab, and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenton Zlab, and her brother Charles Elliott.
She was born in southwestern Missouri to Thurmond and Jewel Elliott, and grew up on the family farm near Bolivar, MO. She moved to Kansas City after graduating from high school, and subsequently attended Ambassador College in Pasadena, CA where she met her future husband, Kenton Zlab. The couple wed on March 3, 1963.
Ken and Eva settled in Pasadena where he worked for the Worldwide Church of God. Eva was his lifelong partner and a homemaker in the truest sense, devoted to every aspect of the household while supporting the interests and goals of her husband and three children to the fullest. At the same time, when the concept of “working from home” was still unknown, Eva ran her own business, helping other women who were just entering the workforce care for their own children by providing in-home daycare. Eva was highly active in her local church congregation through the years, and in return her fellow members were an enormous and loving support to her after she was widowed.
Interests & hobbies – Eva was a skilled seamstress and loved to pursue various crafts. She also enjoyed creative writing, cooking and experimenting with new recipes, and kept her roots from the farm alive by gardening, and keeping chickens and goats in earlier years. She had fond memories of traveling through both Europe and the Holy Land, and enjoyed family car trips throughout the U.S.
A graveside service will be held Friday, January 24, 2020 at Hubbell Cemetery Hubbell, NE at 11 AM. No viewing. Officiant will be Pastor Leon Walker.
