Elizabeth (Liz) Jane Henning of Hebron, NE the daughter of Raymond and Florence (Wright) Dawson was born May 29, 1952 in Columbus, NE. She departed this life Monday, July 27, 2020 at her home in Hebron, NE at the age of 68 years.

Liz grew up in St. Edward, NE attending school and graduated from St. Edward High School with the class of 1970. She continued her education attending Kearney State College in Kearney, NE.

Liz married Ray Henning December 23, 1971 at the Presbyterian Church in St. Edward, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of two children.

The couple made their home in Hebron where Liz worked for Blue Valley Lutheran Care Home, Brand X Saloon, Ortman’s Cafe, Hebron Journal, Casey’s, and Central Market.

Liz was a baker and what a treat for her family, but most of all Liz loved spending time with the family and especially the grandchildren. The most important thing was being a family. Other things she liked to spend her time on were reading, especially science fiction, genealogy, rock-n-roll music, and being creative.A

She crocheted many Lap Blankets for veterans, and the disabled. She liked the feeling of helping other people.

She enjoyed many trips with Ray including Ireland, England, Bahamas, Hawaii, Orlando and Las Vegas. She always enjoyed the weekend lake trips.

She retired to spend more time with her grandchildren, watching them grow up.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband Ray of Hebron, NE, son Shawn Henning and husband Seth Mahoney of San Francisco, CA, daughter Megan Schriner and husband Eric of Grand Island, NE, sisters; Stephanie Dawson of St. Edward, NE, Cynthia Feeser and husband Dennis of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Jennifer Miller of Elkhorn, NE, two grandchildren Elisha and Caleb Schriner, nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life and sharing memories will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021, 4 pm to 7 pm at the Brand X Saloon 445 Lincoln Ave. Hebron, NE 68370

Refreshments will be provided.

 A private informal family service will precede the event at Arrowhead Gardens Arboretum (7th Street and Jefferson Ave) at 3 pm. Please bring a lawn chair.
