Delbert David Holtzen of Deshler, NE the son of Henry and Emma  (Heimsoth) Holtzen was born January 10, 1939 in Cole Camp, MO.  He departed this life Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Blue Valley Nursing Home in Hebron, NE at the age of 82 years. Delbert grew up in Cole Camp, MO attending school and graduating from Cole Camp High School. 

He married Luella Markworth Holtzen November 25, 1995 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Deshler, NE. 

The couple lived in Cole Camp, MO farming, and Delbert was also an auctioneer. He enjoyed being out in God’s great creation working in the fields. 

When Delbert retired from farming his new pastime was carpentry making repairs for neighbors and making many different things.  If you got a wooden craft from Delbert, you knew it was made well. 

Delbert was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Cole Camp, MO, baptized January 22, 1939 by Rev. Walter Schroeder, and confirmed April 6, 1952 by Rev. Henry Gerike, He later joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp, MO where he was a member of L.L.L. He was also the chairman of the soup and chicken dinners. The couple returned to Deshler into 2018 after his retirement and changed their membership to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Deshler, NE.   

He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons; Jeffrey Schardt and Philip Schardt. 

He is survived by his wife Luella of Deshler, daughters; Diane Schardt and husband Marvin of Hebron, Sharon Houtwed and fiance Jerry Lokie of Deshler, NE, Julie Miester of Onalaska, TX, and Roylene Buser and husband Matt of Martell, NE, grandchildren;  Kelli Schardt of Hebron NE, Amy Weatherl (Brandt) of Bennett NE, Jennifer Worcester (Nicholas) of Papillion NE, Jeremy  (Addisin) Schardt of Hebron NE, Angela (Kevin) Duff of Lincoln NE, Nicholas Houtwed of  Kennewick, WA, Haley ( Jordan) Baker of Lincoln NE, Eric (Tracie) Hadcock of La Vista, NE, Dillon Hadcock and fiance Melissa Brickel of La Vista, NE, Tyler Stinson of Lincoln, NE, Ryan Stinson of Crete NE, Spencer Stinson of Crete NE. Great grandchildren; Conner Schardt, Lakin Schardt, Chloe Weatherl, Carson Weatherl, Briella Worcester, Cameron Schardt, and Millie Schardt. 

Funeral service will be held Monday, May 10, 2021 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Deshler, NE at 2PM.  Officiant will be Pastor Brian Francik, organist Anita Harms, congregational hymns; “The Lamb”, “How Great Thou Art”, “My Redeemer Lives”, casket bearers will be the grandsons, honorary casket bearers will be the granddaughters, memorials in care of the family.  Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Kroll Funeral Home of Deshler will be in charge of arrangements.  The service will be streamed live at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Deshler, NE.
