Charles “Charlie” Lee Gillispie Sr. of Alexandria, Nebraska, the son of Marvin B. Gillispie and Susie Helen Gillispie (Anderson) was born March 10, 1955 in Shamrock, Texas. Charlie entered into his eternal rest on August 8, 2022 at Blue Valley Lutheran Home, Hebron, Nebraska, at the age of 67 years old.

Charlie grew up in Shamrock, TX. Charlie worked in the oilfield early in his life and then went onto own many of his own businesses from mechanic shops to carpentry and construction businesses. Charlie was a master carpenter and could build anything. A few favorites were mini cabins, cradles and picnic tables for his grandchildren and jewelry boxes. Charlie’s favorite things to do was to race cars and hunt and fish. In his later years, Charlie loved to take drives in the country with his dogs. Although, Charlie had many hobbies and pastimes fishing won his heart as he loved to fish on the Arkansas River. In 1977, Charlie married Sara Letson and the two were blessed with four children Traci, Joni, Charles and Shane.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Helen, his sister Maxine Suarez, his son Shane Gillispie and two grandsons, Kaplan America Bradley and William Dale Bradley.

Charles is survived by his sister, Evelyn McNeal, his children Joni (Eric) Messervy of Greenwood, Arkansas, Charles (Marlie) Bradley of Jenks, Oklahoma and Traci (Justin) Snyder of Concordia, Kansas, Sara Bradley of Clarksville, Arkansas and daughter in law Alexandrea Gillispie of Greenwood, Arkansas. Charlie is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Whitney, Dalton, Alison, Electra, Mylie, Macie, Maddie, Katana, Shelbi, Lilly, James, Emburly and five great grandchildren: Myla, Raedynn, Bennett, Maven and Aspen and many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.

A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held at his favorite place, the Arkansas River at a later date.
