Blanche Harriette Rachow of Hebron, NE the daughter of Otto and Clara (Krug) Otten was born August 31, 1932 in rural Alexandria, NE. She departed this life Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home in Hebron, NE at the age of 88 years.
Blanche grew up in the Alexandria area before the family moved to a farm near Geneva, NE. She graduated from Geneva High School with the class of 1950.
Blanche married Robert Rachow October 3, 1953 at Bethel Church in Carleton, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Robert, Kathleen, and Kurtis.
The family moved to Hebron in the mid 1950s and she started working at Thayer County Memorial Hospital in 1965 as a nurse aide. Blanche continued working there until she retired in 1999 with 34 years of service.
Blanche liked to crochet making numerous afghans for her kids, friends, and relatives for special occasions. The real joy to her life was spending time and gatherings with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob in 2010, infant son Robert Wade Rachow, and sister Delcia Itzen and husband Henry, sister in law Birdene Nichols and husband Harley, and brother in law Gaylord Rachow.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Rachow of Hebron, NE, her son, Kurtis Rachow and his wife Kathryn of Phillipsburg, KS, four grandchildren; Christine Larson and husband Lars of Boise City, OK, Bradley Rachow and wife Molly of Liberal, KS, Stacy Rietzke and husband Jess of Osborne, KS, and Thomas Rachow and wife Bethany of Valley Center, KS, and six great-grandchildren; Conner, Madelyn, and Nolan Larson, Grayson, and Weston Rietzke, and Rhett Rachow, nieces, nephew and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 12, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in Hebron, NE at 10:30 AM. Officiant will be Pastor Brian Faust, organist Diane Smith, congregational hymns “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art” and “The Old Rugged Cross”. Casket bearers; Bradley Rachow, Thomas Rachow, Jess Rietzke, and Lars Larson. Visitation will be Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron from 2-6 PM.
