Obit Bernice Arlene Deepe-97 of Bruning, NE
Kroll Funeral Home Hebron, NE 402-768-6165
Bernice Deepe of Bruning, Nebraska left this world on July 10, 2022 on her 97th birthday. Bernice was born in 1925, before automobiles were the standard form of transportation in rural Nebraska. She lived through the dirty 30’s, World War II, saw men land on the moon, saw the introduction of the internet age and lived through the Covid pandemic of 2019.
Bernice raised five children, 14 quarter horses and enough tomatoes to feed half of Fillmore county. She had the oil in her car changed by the pros for the first time when she was well over 90. Bernice was the first female bus driver in the Bruning school district, she worked at the State Girl’s Training School in Geneva and actively managed the family farm for decades. Her love of horses led her to participate in the local horse club where she served as treasurer for many years. Her family tree has been traced back to Johann Ruprecht, a member of the Austrian monarchy and on back to Anne Marie Walz, born 1380.
To say Bernice lived a full life would be an understatement. She is survived by three daughters, Beverly, Bonnie, Betty, and one son John. Her youngest daughter Saundra died in 2017. Bernice has three grandsons, Lucas, Levi and Marco and two great grandchildren, Ronan and Saundra Rose.
Doctors said Bernice had a bad heart. Those who love her say she had a heart of gold and we will miss her every single day.
