Anita Ruth Jagels of Hebron, NE the daughter of John and Valora (Meek) Moore was born August 6, 1930 in Carleton, NE. She departed this life Monday, September 9, 2019 at Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home in Hebron, NE at the age of 89 years.
She grew up in the Carleton area attending school and graduating from Carleton High School with the class of 1948. She then moved to Lincoln where she attended Lincoln School of Commerce graduating with a certificate in business and shorthand. She worked as a secretary while in Lincoln.
Anita married Wayne Harlan Jagels on December 23, 1951. This union was blessed with the birth of four daughters. The couple moved to a farm near Davenport, NE until Wayne retired from farming and then moved to Hebron.
She purchased Village Fashions, a women’s clothing store in Deshler, NE in the 1980’s. The business dressed many women of Thayer County and the surrounding area until her retirement in 1999. She was an active member of Deshler Chamber of Commerce and talked fondly of her involvement in the 1987 Deshler Nebraska Centennial Celebration and the annual Thayer County Fair. Anita enjoyed history, genealogy, and anything to do with the Oregon Trail, but most of all spending time with her family especially the grandchildren taking in all of their sporting events, music concerts, or speech contests.
Anita was a former member of The Church of the Brethren in Carleton, NE before joining St. Peter Lutheran Church in Davenport NE, serving as an LWML officer and delegate. She was also very active in Davenport Women’s Club, serving as an officer at the district and state level. As a woman ahead of her time, she sold Tupperware, Avon, and was always busy, including Booster Club and a 4-H Leader.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne in 2007, brother Guy Moore, sister Raoma Beavers, brothers-in law Art Koenig, Harold Jagels, Sam Cimino, and Art Schukei, sisters-in-law Clara Mae Moore and Verona Schukei.
She is survived by four daughters; Deborah Weideman of Nebraska, Pam Harms and husband Doug of Davenport, NE, Rebecca Allotta and husband Robert of Clearfield, UT, and Brenda Jagels-Payne and husband Ralph of Tulsa, OK, sister Norienne Cimino of Chicago, IL, sisters-in-law Lera Koenig of St. Louis, MO and Helen Jagels of Troy, MO, eight grandchildren; Shamlynn Francik and husband Brian of Deshler, NE, Kamaray Kassebaum and husband Zach of Lincoln, NE, Authum Smith and husband Trevor of McCook, NE, Kindall “Tess” Perry and husband Dusty of Hastings, NE, Ross Hunter of St. Paul, MN, Ryan Harms of Exeter, NE, Davis Weideman and wife Britny of Missouri, and Victoria “Tori” Payne of Tulsa, OK, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 15, 2019 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Davenport, NE at 2pm. Officiant will be Pastor Greg Schaffer, visitation will be Saturday, September 14, 2019 3pm to 6pm with family greeting friends from 4-6pm at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron, NE. Casket bearers are the grandchildren, organist Karen Haake, congregational hymn “Amazing Grace”, recorded selections “Home” and “I Can Only Imagine”, burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery Davenport, NE. Memorial to National Alzheimer’s Association, condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron is in charge of arrangements.
