Alice Lucille Freeman of Lincoln, formerly Deshler, passed away on February 6, 2021. She was born May 1, 1927 in Stella, Nebraska to E. A. and Ferne (Higgins) Moritz. She attended country school before moving to Deshler, Nebraska where she graduated from high school in May 1944. She graduated in June 1948 from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a teaching degree in mathematics.

Lucille married Don Freeman on September 7, 1947 at First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln.

After she graduated college, they returned to Deshler in July 1948 where Don went into the family grocery business with his parents. They took full ownership of Freeman’s Market in 1964.

Lucille was active in the Presbyterian Church, teaching Sunday School for 30 years, singing in the choir, moderating Presbyterian Women, and serving on the Homestead Presbyterian Board for 5 years. Over the years she was active in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, china painting, bridge clubs, the America Legion Auxiliary for 60 years, and volunteered countless hours. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Europe, Hawaii and throughout the U.S.

Lucille loved her cats and, especially, spending time with all her children, grandkids, and great grandkids.

Lucille is survived by her children - Donald (Kim) Freeman of Lincoln NE, Mary (Merle) Lemon of Freeport FL, and David (Tonya) Freeman of Spring Hill KS; Grandchildren - Chris (Heather) Freeman, Justin (Amber Fader) Freeman, Derek (Lindsey) Freeman, Jennifer (Brian) Moffatt, Thomas (Hannah) Lemon, Emily Freeman, Micayla Freeman; Great Grandchildren – Ava and Keegan Freeman; Brody, Gavin and Blake Freeman; Jackson and Jacob Moffatt; Rose and Meredith Lemon.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Donald Freeman, brother Douglas Moritz, sister Margaret Moritz, and sister-in law Joyce Heidelk.

Following Lucille’s wishes she was cremated and a graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday June 12, 2021 in the Deshler City Cemetery. Pastor Joe Love officiating. Special music by Emily Freeman “How Great Thou Art” and “In The Garden”. Ava Freeman will have a reading. Honorary casket bearers are the grandchidren. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com.
