Stanley Curtis Higel of Alexandria, NE the son of Edward and Frances (Weaver) Higel was born August 10, 1949 in Deshler, NE. He departed this life Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Heritage Care Center in Fairbruy, NE at the age of 70 years.

Stan grew up in the Alexandria area attending country school and graduating from Alexandria High School with the class of 1967.

After graduation Stan was drafted into the United States Army October 28, 1969 and honorably discharged October 19, 1971. He received the National Defense Service Medal.

Returning home from the service he worked construction for a couple years for Bida Construction before starting his life long career at the Union Pacific Railroad for 39 years as a track inspector.

Farming was always part of his life, being out in God’s great creation. He started by helping his dad and farmed in his spare time all of his life.

Stan enjoyed going to antique farm shows, interested in all the old things especially the ones driven by steam.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Sheila Higel.

He is survived by his brothers Orval Higel of Fairbury, NE, Doug Higel and wife Sylvia of Clatonia, NE, Kent Higel and Kimberly of Fairbury, NE and Edwin Higel and wife Tonja of Daykin, NE, one sister Deann Young and Gary of St. Joseph, MO, nieces, nephews and friends.

Following Stan’s wishes he was cremated and no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later time. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Memorials may be mailed to Kent Higel 7122 Rd R. Alexandria, NE 68303. Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.
