Randy Dean Virus of Belvidere, NE the son of Ludwig and Elizabeth (Holtz) Virus was born August 20, 1957 in Fairbury, NE. He departed this life Saturday, February 25, 2017 at his residence in Belvidere at the age of 59 years.
He was baptized September 15, 1957 and confirmed June 6, 1971 both at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE.
He had a long lasting relationship with Kathy Huffman. This union was blessed with the birth of one daughter Shannon.
Randy grew up in the Hebron area attending school and graduating from Hebron High School with the class of 1975. He then went to work at Cornhusker and Lichti farms and worked for different area hog operations. In 1997 he went to work for Reinke Manufacturing in Deshler, NE as a welder and was still employed at the time of his death.
Randy was a “scrap man”. He collected old iron, cars, trucks and enjoyed tinkering with all the vehicles fixing them up to run again. He also had livestock, cattle, hogs, and a variety of other things just being out in God’s great creation enjoying life. All the nieces, nephews couldn’t wait to go to Uncle Randy’s house to ride the livestock and see what he had new.
Randy was an avid Husker fan, taking time to keep up with all the games. It was always a good time.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Bruce Virus, and sister Beverly Randolf and husband Gaylen, sister-in-law Nancy Virus.
He is survived by his daughter Shannon Ames and husband Jeremy of Beatirce, NE, one brother Roger Virus and special friend Cathy Hergott of Hebron, NE, sister Marsha Ebeling and husband Dale of Steel City, NE, two grandchildren Cole and Wyatt Ames, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Following Randy’s wishes he was cremated. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 3, 2017 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE at 2PM. Officiant will be Pastor Keith Brozek, organist Brenda Stiggow, congregational hymns “You Who Dwell In The Shelter Of The Lord”, “Amazing Grace”, and “This Is My Father’s World” honorary casket bearers will be the grandchildren. Memorial in care of the family or can be mailed to Kroll Funeral Home 330 North 5th St. in Hebron, NE. Inurnment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hebron. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron, NE will be in charge of arrangements.
