Lucille Catherine Kroll of Hebron, NE, the daughter of George and Clara (Nacke) Vonderhaar, was born June 28, 1919 in Hebron, NE. She departed this life Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at her residence in Hebron, NE at the age of 97 years.

Lucille was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron, NE. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Hebron High School with the class of 1937. She was a life long member of Sacred Heart and a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society where she served as treasurer for many years.

After high school, she went to Chillicothe Business School in Chillicothe, MO and graduated in 1940. She then went to work for a firm in Kansas City, KS as a secretary. At the beginning of WWII, she was able to work at the Bruning Air Force Base in Bruning, NE. After the war she then transferred to Colorado Springs Air Force Base. While working there, her father called and said her mother was ill and asked if she could come home to help with her care. That was the beginning of her new career. She cared for her mother for almost 30 years.

She married Norman Kroll on April 25, 1949 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron, NE by Msgr. Crowley. This union was blessed with the birth of three children.

Lucille’s life was God and her family. She prayed more rosaries than you could count. “Always something to pray for” she would say.

She was a great cook, making homemade pies and desserts. Her house was a special place for anyone who entered, always asking them to have coffee and a piece of dessert. She never got mad and was always there for her family.

She enjoyed sitting on her porch, playing bridge, and visiting neighbors, but Lucille’s greatest joy in life was her faith and her children, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and 3 very special angels that took wonderful care of her the last two years Trish, Janelle and Amy Culp.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman Kroll, daughter Louise LeBow, brothers Robert Vonderhaar and Karl Vonderhaar and wife Arlene, sister Loretta Golden.

She is survived by two sons; Bill Kroll and wife Cindy and John Kroll and wife Joyce of Hebron, NE, sister-in-law Gertrude Vonderhaar of Carlsbad, CA, brother-in-law Marshall Golden of West Palm Beach, Florida, grandchildren; Steven Schiermeyer and wife Rhonda of Geneva, NE, James Schiermeyer and wife Michelle of Oklahoma City, OK, Jennifer Krupicka and husband Eric of Hebron, Dan Kroll and wife Karen of Hebron, Clarissa Reddi and husband Vishnu of Lincoln, Amy Schwartz and husband Josh of Lincoln, NE, Aaron Kroll of Denver, CO, Jessica Brugman, and husband Andy of Fullerton, NE, great-grandchildren; Megan and Wyatt Schiermeyer, Hannah and Olivia Schiermeyer, Christian, Jaxon and Cooper Krupicka, Lukas, Gavin, Karsten and Trayton Kroll, Lexi and Samuel Schwartz, and Luciana Reddi, special friends Janelle, Trish and Amy Culp, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron, NE at 10:00am. Officiant Father Rudy Oborny, organist Julie Kriesel, cantor Jessica Flohr, congregational hymns “How Great Thou Art,” “Be Not Afraid,” “You Are Mine,” and “On Eagle’s Wings,” acolyte Ken Else, reader Karen Kroll. Rosary service Friday, March 10 at 7:30pm at Kroll Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, March 10th at 1:00pm until the rosary at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron, NE.
