James Henry Bauer of Hebron, NE the son of Alexander and Susanna (Krass) Bauer was born February 5, 1930 in Friend NE. He departed this life Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at his residence in Hebron, NE.

 

Jim grew up in the Sutton area and graduated from Sutton High School with the class of 1947. Even while in high school Jim started working for the Nebraska Department of Roads. After graduation, he started his career with Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Company (LT&T) in Hastings, NE then transferring to Superior, NE where he met his wife. In 1976 the couple moved to Hebron where he was manager of LT&T. He worked for LT&T for 44 years retiring in January of 1992.

 

Jim married Shirley Nadeen Messersmith April 15, 1951 at the United Methodist Church in Superior, NE by Rev. Ervin Unvert. This union was blessed with the birth of one son Gregory. Jim and Nadeen would have been married 66 years in April.

 

Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army January of 1952 and was honorably discharged December 1953. He was with the Signal Corp various places serving in Panama.

 

Jim and Nadeen loved to travel and play golf, and taking fishing trips with his son to Canada. They enjoyed spending time together, especially with their son and his family. He enjoyed coffee every morning with friends and then returning home to have breakfast with Nadeen.

 

He was a member of The United Methodist Church in Hebron, Hebron Country Club, and Hebron American Legion Post #180.

 

They were avid Husker fans and enjoyed attending games in Lincoln.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Harris Peter.

 

He is survived by his wife Nadeen of Hebron, NE, son Gregory and wife JoAnn of Omaha, NE, two grandsons Grant Alexander and Jacob Samuel Bauer both of Omaha, sister Doris Peter of Corvallis, Oregon, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

 

Funeral service will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 at The United Methodist Church in Hebron at 1:00 PM. Officiant will be Reverend Michell Gowin, honorary casket bearers are the grandsons, pianist Linda Dudgeon, congregational hymns “Amazing Grace” and “On Eagles Wings”. Visitation will be Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron 2PM to 7PM. Military services by Hebron and Deshler American Legion. Memorial to Hebron American Legion Club #180. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron, NE is in charge of arrangements.
