Irma Headrick-89- of Hebron, Ne

Irma Headrick 89 of Hebron, NE was born July 20, 1916 in Carleton, NE to Lawrence and Margaret (Dudgeon) Meinhold. Irma died Friday December 30, 2005 at Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home in Hebron, NE.
Irma was born on a farm in rural Carleton, NE. She attended Coonridge Country School for 8 years. Because her parents did not believe more schooling was needed, she worked at home until she was married.
Irma married Benjamin Headrick on October 14, 1934. They began their life together on a farm near Alexandria. Being a farm wife was different for Irma as she helped her husband with milking the cows, tending to the hogs, and all other farm related tasks. This union was blessed with the birth of four daughters. The family moved to Daykin on December 1, 1945. While in Daykin, Ben worked at the Daykin Lumber Yard and Irma worked at the grocery store and the U.S. Post Office from 1955-1958. In December of 1958, they moved to Hebron. During this time, Irma worked at the Hesteds Store (Dime Store). Then in May of 1960 they moved to Carleton as owners of the Carleton Lumber Yard. During their 31 years in Carleton, Irma worked as the bookkeeper for the Lumber Yard for 5 years, Weddel's Drug Store from 1964-1991, and for the U.S. Post Office from 1960-1991. She retired in 1991 with 31 years of service. On April 14, 1991 Ben died suddenly and not long after, Irma had a home built along Lincoln Avenue in Hebron, NE.
Irma enjoyed her flowers, yard work, being with family, making raspberry jelly, enjoying the festivities with Milo Days especially the floats in the parades, crocheted afghans for the grandchildren and everything that goes with being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ben, one brother Allen Meinhold, one sister Aleine Meyer, one infant sister Margaret, one great-grandson-Jordan Burkey, and son-in-law Millard Bauer.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Beverly Bauer of Deshler, NE, Judy Valentine of Overland Park, KS, Jackie Wiedel and husband Roger of Hebron, NE, Brenda Ranney and husband Marc of Scottsdale, AZ, 17 grandchildren Pamela Ficken and husband Kellyof Davenport, NE, Terry Bauer and wife Lori of Oak, NE, Kathy Taylor and husband Randy of Deshler, NE, Rocky Valentine and wife Teri of Mission, KS, Marty Valentine of Arlington, VA, Carlece Kenner and husband Pat, Kevin Wiedel, Kelli Burkey and husband Terry, Kurk Wiedel and wife Kris, Casey Wiedel and wife Stephanie, Curtis Wiedel and fiancée Amy Breault, all of Hebron, NE, Kendra Wiedel of Lincoln, NE, , Craig Wiedel, Cory Wiedel and fiancée Jeri Stephens, all of Omaha, NE, Michelle Kurth and husband Jeff of Scottsdale, AZ, Shane and Trace Ranney of Scottsdale, AZ, 34 great-grandchildren, Braden and Stacia Burkey, Jenna, Seth, Simon and Jasa Wiedel, Jordan, Luke and Brock Wiedel, all of Hebron, NE, Ashley Burkey and Desire' Stephens of Omaha, NE, Jamie Ficken of Lincoln, NE, Jonie Ficken and fiancée Ryan Murken of Aurora, NE, Kole and Kamron Ficken of Davenport, NE, Tyson and Jill Bauer from Oak, NE, Alesia and Terron Bauer of Oak, NE, Trevor Taylor of Deshler, NE, Julia Valentine and Ryan Bertram of Mission, KS, Audrey and Maggie Valentine of Burke, VA, Rhiannon Svitak and husband Casey of Sprague, NE, Andrea Richardson and husband Jeremy, Rebecca Kenner, Caleb Kenner, Jessica Wiedel, Michelle Wiedel, Joel Wiedel, all of Hebron, NE, Dave Pritchett and wife Amy of Overland Park, KS. Eric Wiedel of Lincoln, NE, Tyler and Tiffany Kurth of Scottsdale, AZ and great great-grandson Kenner Svitak of Sprague, NE and great great-granddaughter Jaden Siegel of Oak, NE, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday January 2, 2006 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron, NE, officiant will be Rev. Jon Jensen, organist Julie Kriesel, cantor Carlece Kenner, congregational hymns "Amazing Grace", "On Eagles Wings", special selection "23rd Psalm", and taped recording "Beautiful Mother", Casket bearers will be the grandsons, honorary casket bearers the granddaughters. Visitation will be held from 11 am to 7 pm on Sunday January 1, 2006 at Hebron Memorial Funeral Home in Hebron, NE, burial will be at the Carleton City Cemetery in Carleton, NE. Hebron Memorial Funeral Home of Hebron, NE is in charge of arrangements.
