Gary Lee Ahlman, age 75, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2019.  He was born June 21, 1944 in Fairbury, Nebraska, to parents Lawrence and Pauline Ahlman.  Gary is survived by his loving wife, Celina Ahlman; daughter, Stacey Powers and her husband, Jimmy, and grandchildren, Abigail Powers, Jackson Powers, and Luke Powers; daughter, Stephanie Summerall, and husband Charles, and grandchildren, Carley Summerall and Audra Summerall; and daughter Celina Khalil and husband Neil.  Also, survived by his brother Dennis Ahlman and wife Barbara; sister, Constance (Connie) Behring; and brother, Larry Ahlman and wife Sandra.  

Gary grew up in Hebron, NE attending school and graduating from Hebron High School with the class of 1962.

Gary was an intelligent, disciplined minded person. After leaving his hometown of Hebron, Nebraska to further his education at the University of Nebraska, he went on to pursue his dream. Gary achieved his Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston School of Optometry. He soon thereafter saw a need for an Optometrist in the small border town of Edinburg, Tx. Gary built a successful practice and made life-long friends. His honest work ethic lead many to stand alongside him for many years.

Gary had many hobbies including carpentry, geology, and real estate. You could always strike a conversation about his plants that he hand-planted and tended to. 

Gary meant so much to so many and was loved by everyone that knew him.  He will be missed more than words can convey.  He never knew a stranger and gave so much to help people whenever they needed it.  Gary was the best Husband, the best father, the world’s best Grandfather, the best brother, and most caring, warm heart. Our comfort is knowing that he is in a much better place, healed and back with his parents whom he has dearly missed since their passing many years ago.  

Gary’s life will be celebrated in Hebron, Nebraska on January 18, 2020 at 11:00 am at Kroll Funeral Home Chapel in Hebron. Officiant Pastor Jeff Friesen, organist Brenda Striggow congregational hymn Precious Lord Take My Hand. No visitation-cremation, inurnment will be in Hebron City Cemetery.
