Evelyn I Kutscher the daughter of John and Hazel (McMillian) Kerns was born August 27, 1929 in Hebron, NE. She died February 8, 2006 at her daughter's home in Westminster, CO at the age of 76.

Evelyn attended school in Hebron, NE graduating from Hebron High School. She joined Peace Lutheran Church when she married Lester Kutscher on July 20, 1948. To this union 4 daughters were born. Barbara Joanne, still born twins and Loretta Elaine who only lived 6 hours.

Evelyn worked at the Deshler Broom Factory, as a store clerk, nurse's aid at Thayer County Hospital for 17 years and also drove the bus for the Special Education in Thayer County for 2 years.

Evelyn enjoyed reading, embroidering, going to her interfaith bible study group, and especially being with her family. Evelyn was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Fireman's Auxiliary, and the Woman's Club, all in Deshler, NE.

She was a resident of Park View Nursing Home in Deshler, Ne after her husband died September 12, 2001. On May 1, 2003 she moved to Denver, CO to live with her daughter Barbara. She enjoyed trips to the mountains, especially in the fall when the aspens were changing color. She also enjoyed trips to the east and west coasts. Evelyn's joy of life made her good company, she will be missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester September 12, 2001, 3 infant daughters.

She is survived by daughter Barbara Collins of Westminster, CO. 3 brothers; Richard Kerns of Omaha, NE, Delbert Kerns of Belleville, KS, Archie Kerns of Albuquerque, NM, 1 sister Gloria Lyon of Lincoln, NE, grandchildren, Christine Wear of Fort Lewis, WA, Adam Collins of Okinawa, Japan and great-grandson Chance of Fort Lewis, WA, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Memorial funeral services will be held this Saturday February 25 at 10:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, NE. Reverend Phillip Nielsen will be officiating, organist Julia Pohlmann, congregational hymns "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art", "Faith Of Our Fathers". No visitation cremation. Inurnment will be held in Peace Lutheran Cemetery Deshler, NE following the service. Deshler Memorial Funeral Home, Deshler, NE is in charge of arrangements.
