Esther Larsen of Hebron, NE the daughter of Niels and Andrea (Jensen) Nielsen was born November 20, 1915 in Freeman, SD.  She departed this life Monday, May 6, 2019 at Courtyard Terrace in Hebron, NE at the age of 103 years.

 

She was baptized November 26, 1915 and confirmed April 12, 1931 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Abdal, NE.

 

Esther and her family moved to Nebraska when she was seven. She attended public school in Abdal, NE through the 8th grade. She started working at a young age cleaning and being a nanny in the Superior and Hardy area.

 

She married Arne Larsen December 23, 1934 at Bethel Lutheran Church near Abdel, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of two children. They lived on a farm near Ruskin, NE from 1935 to 1946 before moving to Hebron.

 

She worked in housekeeping at The Hebron Hospital for 21 years, Hebron High School Cafeteria for eight years, and cleaned at the ASCS office in Hebron.

 

She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, a member of the Rebecca Circle where she helped as needed with various activities. She was also a member of Hospital Guild, and Hebronette’s Extension Club.

 

Esther enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arne for 80 years, five brothers; Amos, Lynn, Peter, Ervin, and Kermit Nielsen, three sisters; Palma Oliver, Helga Hughes and infant Esther Nielsen, daugher-in-law Nancy Larsen, and grandson-in-law Monte Engebertison.

 

She is survived by her son DeLoyd Larsen of Lincoln, NE, daughter Rogene Hartley and husband Doyall of Chester, NE, grandchildren; Lori Engebertison of Greensboro, NC, Randy Larsen and wife Julie of Overland Park, KS, and Darren Hartley of Lincoln, NE, great-grandchildren; Seth Engebertison of Lincoln, NE, Erin Engebertison of Richmond, VA, Cole and Reed Larsen of Overland Park, KS, Oliviah Hartley and fiance Tyler Eberspacher of Lincoln, NE, and Halston Hartley of Lincoln, NE, great-great grandchildren; Skylar and Bo Eberspacher, nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Funeral services will be Friday, May 10, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE at 1:30 PM.  Visitation will be Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron from 2-6 PM.  Officiant will be Pastor Keith Brozek.  Casket bearers; Randy Larsen, Lori Engebertison, Darren Hartley, Halston Hartley, Oliviah Hartley, Seth Engebertison, Cole Larsen, Reed Larsen, Doyall Hartley and Berwyn Petersen. Honorary casket bearers; Bernard Betten, John Davis, and Beauford Hoyer. Organist Janet Germer, congregational hymns “How Great Thou Art”, “Amazing Grace”, and “Day by Day”, soloist Jamie Luttrell singing “A Mother's Love”. Memorial in lieu of flowers in care of the family.  Burial will be Hebron City Cemetery.  Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com.  Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron is in charge of arrangements.
