Ervin Fangmeyer Obituary

Ervin August Henry Fangmeyer of Deshler, NE the son of Fred and Louise (Potthast) Fangmeyer was born April 23, 1936, in Deshler, NE. He departed his life November 24th, 2023, at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler, NE at the age of 87.

He was baptized May 11th, 1936, by Pastor F.H. Schwerin and confirmed April 23rd, 1950, by Pastor F.H. Schwerin both at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, NE. Ervin grew up in Desher attending and graduating Deshler Public High School class of 1953. He married JoAnn Ruth Flathman on July 7th, 1957, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chester, NE. Their marriage was blessed with five children(kids), Audrey, Nancy, David, Janet and Randy.

Ervin was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, NE serving in many ways, church council, usher, communion assistant, in the choir, a Sunday school teacher and an ambassador for Carol Joy Holling Camp in Ashland, NE.

Ervin provided for his family in many different jobs: Deshler Broom Factory (Deshler and Oregon), Wonder Bread Company, Eigenberg Trucking, E&J Clothing (Dry cleaning, Montgomery Wards and selling life insurance), Lincoln Journal Star paper delivery, Ervin Fangmeyer Mowing and Handyman Service. He was active in the community serving on the Deshler Chamber of Commerce, served as a 4-H leader and donated blood whenever he could.

Ervin enjoyed gardening, fishing, being outside, playing cards with anyone, woodworking, auctions, most of all spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Ruth Fangmeyer, his parents Fred and Louise (Potthast) Fangmeyer, Brothers, Kenneth and Arno Fangmeyer, Sisters, Karen Fangmeyer, Arleta Mesloh and Lillus Stanosheck, daughter in law, Laurie Fangmeyer and granddaughter, Rachel Fangmeyer.

He is survived by his sons: Randy Fangmeyer and wife Tasha of Fremont, NE and David Fangmeyer of Edmond, OK, daughter Audrey Hoops of Deshler, Nancy Foster and husband Dan of Colby, KS, and Janet Eilts and husband Brad of Larned, KS. Brothers Dale Fangmeyer and wife Jeanette of Lincoln, NE and Allen Fangmeyer of Kearney, NE, sister Marsha Fangmeyer and husband Jim Wiest of Gibbon, NE. Grand children and great grand children are as follows -Jeremy Bell(Liz, Hastings, NE), Justin Bell(Whitney, Louisville, NE), Eric Hoops,(Wendy, Hebron, NE) Tony Hoops(Deshler, NE), Steven Fangmeyer (Jennifer, Stanton, CA), Ryan Eilts (Pachuca, Mexico), Matthew Eilts (Sarah, Kansas City, KS), Brett Eilts (Wichita, KS), Gatlin Fangmeyer, (Fremont, NE), Shannon Nauslar (Jim, Glenwood, IA), Wendy Kuhlman (Tony, Salina, KS), Shelly Smith(Deshler, NE), Danielle Wagoner(BJ, Colby, KS), Rebecca Fangmeyer(Edmond, OK), Baily Cantrell (Hastings, NE), Sadye Bell (Hastings, NE), Bradyn Bell,(Hastings, NE) McKylie Smith(Deshler, NE), Daphne Smith,(Deshler, NE) Tyler Lamia(Salina, KS), Kirsten Lamia(Salina, KS), Olivia Lamia(Salina, KS), Kyzer Hoops(Hebron, NE), Korbyn Hoops(Hebron, NE), Zander Hayes(Ames, IA), Darrian Hayes, (Omaha, NE) Alexys Hayes(Omaha, NE), Sierra Nauslar(Omaha, NE), Andrew Nauslar (Los Angeles, CA), Blaine Wagoner(Colby, KS), Brielle Fangmeyer(Stanton, CA), Rachel Nielsen(Edmond, OK), Addyson Wagoner(Colby, KS) and Bristol Bell(Louisville, NE).

Funeral services are Friday, 10:30 am, December 1, 2023, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler with the Rev. Joe Love officiating. Interment will be at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Deshler.

Visitation will be held Thursday, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Kroll Funeral Home in Deshler with the family present from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

A memorial fund has been established by the family for later designation.
